Virgin Pendolinos
This is a timely celebration / commemoration of Virgin trains traffic on the Manchester to Colwich Junction branch of the West Coast Mainline at Prestbury, Cheshire. Virgin has been a major operator on this route for more than ten years but the companies future in rail operations is now in doubt and 2019 may be the last year of Virgin activity on our local mainlines. The tilting Pendolino (class 390) trains are exclusive to Virgin’s Manchester – London Euston service on these routes and soon we may be seeing them in a new colour scheme? Unless they are decamped to other routes?
A London to Manchester Pendolino speeds through Prestbury station. Traffic on this line is very intense with frequent services to London and many other destinations in the Midlands, South and South West but only local services call at Prestbury station.
