Manchester Airport Incoming

ALS Lights

A lovely summer day out on the bike with camera – a whole day! I ride past this field with the Approach Lighting System for Runway 05 Right at Manchester quite often but as if by lucky chance on this day they were lit, albeit temporarily. I was lucky to get this shot because landing from the south west is the least active direction.

The ride was quite a long but comparatively easy (level) trip, or at least it has nothing like the hill climbs of some of my easterly rides. I came down through Wilmslow, then off to Mobberley with a nostalgia adjunct to Hale via Ashley and then instead of doing my usual return via the airport and Styal and decided to retrace part of the trip back toward Mobberley and head up through Tatton Park to Knutsford. Slight delay once I got to the Rostherne entrance for the Tatton mile as I had to repair a puncture — in the heat! Then it was home via Alderley Park and Hocker lane to cut out the hellish final climb of Birtles Lane!

Ashley Explore

I had quite a detailed off-the-beaten track exploration of Ashley, one of my old childhood haunts and discovered the amazing Bush Craft “Into The Wild” setting, a kind of survivalists camp with food and drink options but a very secluded place and I’m sure not very many people know about it? see more here Into The Wild
