A cold month in Prestbury

Perky Laurel in snow and ice. We have had another arctic winter in Cheshire, one of several in recent years and all documented to various extents on this site. Previous white winters include 2009, 2010 and 2013. It has been bitterly cold with sub-zero temps for at least a week. In fact, I now find it to be unbearably cold and haven’t ventured further with camera this year though there have been some amazing sites to be seen in the hills and up above Rainow.

Road conditions are highly treacherous with many of the more remote lanes not being gritted and pack ice is forming everywhere. Not very safe conditions for hilly terrain on a bike!

New Road, Colder than it looks

The view along New Road in the village of Prestbury, snow and ice compacted and frozen solid on roofs and parts of the pavement. Daytime temps on the 10th were rarely above -4C.
